My husband and I celebrated our 19th anniversary last year with an overnight stay at the luxurious DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel in down town Columbus, Ohio. We hope you enjoy this review!
Usually our visits to Columbus involve the kiddos but this time around was just for us adults. We had lots planned and I could not wait to get started. Columbus has so much to do and my husband and I have never gone alone before. The whole weekend was ours to do what we wanted to do! : )
Our home away from home for the two nights we were in town was located in the heart of Columbus. The bed was super comfy. I haven’t slept that well in years! We also enjoyed a little TV on their 42 Inch Flat Panel HD.
In 1986, DoubleTree by Hilton began introducing the signature Cookie to guests as a way to build brand loyalty. Best part, it’s served warm! They were a nice treat after our two hour drive.
DoubleTree Suites has in-room exercise amenities, a more social bar area, and a full-service restaurant.
We had a cozy suite with an additional sitting area, work station and sink. They were spacious, comfortable and well appointed with everything we could have ever needed.
Another bonus was the location. It was minutes from the
Columbus Convention Center, Cosi, and a short distance from the Arena District. The area is packed full with delicious dining options.
DoubleTree Suites is located right beside Scioto River. Our view from our room was spectacular!
We woke up at a comfortable time and then headed down for breakfast. The menu had fresh eggs, fruit, hash browns, and more.
After we had breakfast we spent out first full day exploring downtown. We walked everywhere! We came across many beautiful buildings and old cathedral churches.
The spring flowers were in full bloom including these gorgeous peonies. They happen to be one of my favorite flowers.
After a couple of hours of walking we came across these bike rentals. Next time we visit we plan on trying these out! Could have saved us a few blisters. : )
For lunch we hit this really cool restaurant covered in Marvel hero characters. My kids and I love all the movies! They would have loved the restaurant too. The served water in these cool old style milk glasses and our lunch was amazing too.
After lunch we decided to head back to the hotel and change. It was getting chilly and our feet needed a break. Once rested we headed out for more dinner and decided to dine at this cool little restaurant that had a very nice outdoor seating area. I enjoyed a raspberry spritzer and my husband his usual, what ever they have on draft. We took a rare selfie which we sent to our kids then headed out
To end our evening we stopped by the Dueling Piano’s. The music and food was great! The two pianist did a great job interacting with the crowd and had them up out of their seats dancing.
Before heading home on our final day we decided to skip the free breakfast and try out this cute little restaurant we saw the day before. My husband LOVES his pancakes and they had all kinds! I stuck with my veggie omelet and boy was it good! Next time we go, we will have to take the kids. They would have loved it!!
