Spring is in full swing and here in Ohio it is FINALLY starting to feel like it. With all that is going on in the world we all could definitely use a healthy dose of sunshine! And with no where to go doing something creative is a great way to nourish the soul. Especially one as easy as this one! There is no wrong way of doing it.
So on to wreath making! I had been searching for a spring wreath for months now and being on lock down my options were slim. The ones I did find I felt I could easily make myself and for MUCH cheaper. So that’s what I did!
Luckily, I had a lot of the items I needed on hand. The rest of it came from Walmart. Again, my flower options were limited so I used what I could find.
Here is what you will need:
- Floral hoop wreath
- Wire cutters
- Artificial flowers of your choice.
- Green floral wire
- Hot glue gun
- Greenery (2- 3 different kinds)
- Twine or Ribbon to hang the wreath
I used artificial lambs ear and Eucalyptus seed stems for my greenery and 2 pink roses with cherry blossoms.
I started by placing the greenery on the wreath and then the flowers just to see where I wanted everything to go.
Once I was happy with the look I began trimming up the stems of the greenery and wiring them in place first . I tried wrapping the stems without the hot glue gun and had a hard time keeping them in place. Hot gluing them down first made this process go a lot easier and faster.
Once the greenery was on I wired the cherry blossoms into place. I did this by weaving in and out of the flowers.
I then cut the whole stem off roses so they would lay flat to the wreath and hot glued them to the greenery.
Once everything was in place the final step was to make the hanger. I used twine but ribbon would look just as pretty. I just liked the small touch of the rustic look the twine gave the wreath.
Considering the circumstances and limited floral options I think it turned out pretty cute! My teenage age daughter wants one for her room which is a huge compliment…lol!
Maybe once the craft stores open up again I will change it up a bit for a more summer vibe. I will be sure to post that too. : )
If you make one for yourself we would love to see it!
